Mayor officially opens Trowbridge Integrated Care Centre

Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire Integrated Care Board (BSW ICB) welcomed Cllr Stewart Palmen, Mayor of Trowbridge, to officially open Trowbridge Integrated Care Centre today (Friday 26 June).

The Mayor was joined by colleagues from Trowbridge Town Council, Wiltshire Council and Andrew Murrison MP, along with representatives from across the NHS, at the opening event where he unveiled a commemorative plaque to mark the occasion.

The opening ceremony was led by Caroline Holmes, Place Director for Wiltshire at BSW ICB, who extended thanks on behalf of the ICB to the many partners who helped make the new Integrated Care Centre a reality. She highlighted the important role the centre will play in helping deliver the ambitions of the NHS 10 Year Plan by supporting neighbourhood health, bringing services together in one place and shifting more care out of hospitals and into community settings, closer to where people live.

Caroline said: “I am delighted we are here today to officially open Trowbridge Integrated Care Centre. This building is a physical representation of the direction of travel for health and care services, providing a modern, fit-for-purpose environment for neighbourhood-based care. It brings together health professionals from a range of organisations under one roof to provide vital services to the people of Trowbridge and the surrounding area. I would like to thank everyone who helped make this project a reality. I am hugely grateful for the hard work and fantastic partnership working that made this possible.”

Andrew Strange, Strategy Lead (South) at NHS Property Services, who led the build project, spoke about the building’s modern, flexible design and how it has been created to support the delivery of integrated healthcare for many years to come. He also highlighted the centre’s net zero credentials and how it reflects the NHS’s ambition for a modern, sustainable estate.

Cllr Clare Cape, Wiltshire Council Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care, Public Health and Co-ordination with the NHS, spoke about how the Council’s £3 million contribution from the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) helped turn a shared vision of bringing more care into local communities into a reality.

Cllr Cape commented: “The centre is a great example of what can be achieved through strong partnership working between Wiltshire Council and the NHS. We have a shared vision for joined-up services that support residents’ health, wellbeing and independence, both now and in the future. The Trowbridge Integrated Care Centre is much more than a building. It is a focal point for the community, brought to life by talented staff who put people first, take pride in the work they and their teams do, and are committed to helping residents live healthy and fulfilling lives.”

Cllr Palmen was then invited to officially open the Integrated Care Centre by unveiling a commemorative plaque. He spoke about the importance of the centre for the local community and his pride in seeing Trowbridge benefit from significant investment in modern healthcare facilities that will serve residents for many years to come.

Following the ceremony, guests toured the new centre before gathering for refreshments, where Andrew Murrison MP shared his congratulations and reflected on the importance of continued investment in local health services.
