Covid-19 vaccine information for parents of children aged between 12 and 15
Parents are encouraged to consider the latest update relating to the coronavirus vaccination programme.
New guidance from the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation states that children aged between 12 and 15 with an underlying health condition, as well as those in the same age group whose parents or other close family members have weakened immune systems, are eligible for the Covid-19 vaccine manufactured by Pfizer.
With any such announcement relating to the widening of the vaccine eligibility criteria comes a great deal of behind-the-scenes planning. Our teams are currently working hard to ensure we can start vaccinating this new group of people as soon as possible, but ask for understanding from patients as this may process may take a number of weeks.
Until notified otherwise, parents and carers of 12 to 15-year-olds with an underlying health condition are advised to wait to be contacted by the NHS before contacting their GP practice, hospital or vaccination centre.
