Community Diagnostic Centres
Three new community diagnostic centres have opened across Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire since the beginning of 2023.
The three new centres can be found at the following locations:
- Sulis Hospital, Bath
- West Swindon Health Centre
- Salisbury Central Health Clinic
Each of the new sites currently provide a limited range of diagnostic services, namely CT and MRI scans, X-rays and ultrasound procedures.
However, more services will be added at each of the sites over the coming months, with the CDCs in Bath and Swindon awaiting delivery of new endoscopy units.
Sulis Hospital should receive its new endoscopy unit in October 2024, while Swindon’s is expected in early 2025.
The site at Salisbury Central Health Clinic is also set to be expanded in order to provide space for new cardiac rooms and ultrasound suites .
National funding has been awarded to the ICB to deliver the three sites.
The Sulis Hospital is owned by the Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust, and provides care to both private and NHS patients.
Currently, the Sulis Hospital provides the following diagnostic services:
- CT scans
- MRI scans
- X-rays
- Ultrasounds
- Endoscopy procedures

West Swindon Health Centre is located in the Shaw Ridge area of Swindon, and is a hub for community-based services provided by Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Currently, the site offers the following diagnostic services:
- CT scans
- MRI scans
A dedicated endoscopy unit is expected to open at the site in 2025.
