Our involvement structures

Patient and Public engagement sits at the heart of our work using population insight and patient experience to, shape and ultimately drive our plans. Our work will enable a greater understanding of the needs and desires of our community to help us make more effective decisions to deliver better health outcomes. Our aim is for services to be co-produced with our community, ensuring that their needs and experiences shape both the design and delivery. By listening and acting upon patient and carer feedback at all stages of commissioning, we can ensure the services we commission are high quality, meet the needs of our population, and continuously improve.

Our Constitution explains how we are governed and how decisions are made. It also includes principles and arrangements for how the ICB will work with people and communities.

Julian Kirby is our Non-Executive Director for Public and Community Engagement. He is a Wiltshire resident and was the Governing Body Lay Member for Patient and Public Engagement for BSW CCG from 2018 to 2022.

Julian’s first career was as a police officer serving across Wiltshire and Swindon before being appointed as the Assistant Chief Constable of South Wales. On retirement in 2014, Julian joined Age UK Wiltshire & Swindon as Chief Executive Officer. He was lay member for the local clinical commissioning group until July 2022.

Julian has a passion for championing health and social care for older people in particular and will bring experience and knowledge of the voluntary and community sectors to the ICB Board.
