Important vaccine information for parents of young children
The UK government has announced that the Covid-19 vaccine will soon be available to all children aged between five and 11-years-old.
Previously, only children in this age group who were deemed to be clinically extremely vulnerable had been invited to come forward for the jab.
As it stands, no firm decision has yet been made by the governement as to when the vaccine will be offered to children other than those already eligible.
Vaccination teams across Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire continue to plan for when the green light is given, and will share details of when and where the vaccine for children can be accessed as soon as details have been confirmed.
Parents whose children are not considered clinically extremely vulnerable should wait for further instruction, which will hopefully arrive in the next few weeks, before visiting a vaccine centre in person, contacting a GP practice or attempting to book a vaccination appointment.
Further information about the government’s decision to offer the vaccine to all children can be found on the gov.uk website.
