Changes to POD

PLEASE NOTE: Online and email prescription requests are now closed
as of 29 February 2024.

Patients in need of medication can call POD on 0333 332 0050 or request prescriptions via the NHS App.

Some patients may also be able to order their prescriptions by contacting their GP practice directly. Please speak to your registered GP practice for more information.

POD is set to discontinue in its current form on or before 30 June 2024, with the practices and care homes that use the system offering repeat prescribing services instead.

A list of frequently asked questions has been produced to provide patients with further information about the move away from POD.

Prescription Ordering Direct telephone line

POD remains available over the telephone by calling 0333 332 0050. Lines are open between 10am and 3pm every weekday.

Once processed, prescriptions will be sent direct to patients’ pharmacy for collection after one week.

How else to order repeat prescriptions

The quickest way to order repeat prescriptions is through the NHS App, which is free to download on all smartphones and tablets. Information on how to use the app is available online.

Patients can also arrange repeat prescriptions through their practice, either on the phone or via the practice website. Registration may be required for some patients before being able to access online ordering. Patients should speak to their practice directly to find out more.
